Mentoring Explained
Our mentoring program is specifically designed for adolescent and young adult clients of all genders who struggle with mental health, substance misuse, behavioral, social or failure-to-launch issues. Through one-on-one sessions, the mentor and mentee will engage in various activities based on the client's goals and interests. We assess each client's individual needs and pair them with one of our expertly trained mentors who is not only close in age, and shares similar passions, but who also has personal experience with the client's struggles. Our mentors have lived through and conquered the same issues our clients face allowing them to authentically relate to, understand, and help our clients in a way that is not otherwise possible.

Our mentors
Our mentors leverage a variety of skills and techniques to help clients with whatever issues they are facing. Grounded in evidence-based practices, mentors leverage motivational interviewing and relational cultural theory to build rapport, help clients feel safe, and establish goals they can work on together. Mentors will work side-by-side with clients to help them accomplish their goals, teaching clients a variety of DBT and life skills that will help them develop self-sufficiency and emotional self-regulation.

Our Clients
We support clients of all genders from ages 13 to 30, who struggle with mental health, substance abuse, and life skill deficit issues. Every teen (or adult for that matter) could benefit from the support of a mentor who serves as a positive role model. It is especially beneficial to those who suffer from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, addiction, and/or minimal interest in hobbies and passions.

How It Works
Our mentoring program consists of a minimum of two meetings per week, each about 2-3 hours in length. Each outing consists of activities that most interest your child such as working out, walking on the beach, surfing, taking a yoga class, meeting at a coffee shop to work on a resume, going grocery shopping and cooking, hiking, attending AA meetings and functions and more. We can work with a client's existing clinical team or build out a team of resources necessary for each client. From therapists and psychiatrists, to nutritionists and yoga instructors, and even doctors. It is important to us that all professionals involved are working together to support the client's goals and reinforcing whatever work is being done.

Testimonials

I just adore Ace. My kid loves to talk to him. He keeps him in check and asks my child the right questions to get him to think. He is always available to me to text or talk on the phone if questions come up. He helps me understand the teen party scene in a way only a recovering addict with inside knowledge could offer. His advice is priceless and I never feel judged. I feel support and so does my child. I have found that Ace has an understanding and wisdom that even some of the best clinicians in LA don’t have. He is so good at helping me navigate when to lay back, when to crack down, and when to praise or just listen. He is excellent at his job. I really can’t recommend him enough. Don’t do this alone. Call Ace. He is the best in the West (LA). And he’s funny and just great to talk to.

Ace facilitated my transition from residential treatment back into living on my own in the spring of 2020. Without his help and guidance I’m not sure where I’d be now. After meeting with me and my family, he paired me with a wonderful mentor and therapist, who worked as a team to help me overcome a serious anxiety disorder and have given me the tools to accomplish goals I never thought possible before being put in touch with Ace. He also found a parent coach to work with my parents and the entire team worked together to help transform the dynamics of our family. I cannot recommend Ace enough as a mentor and guide to anyone who struggled to get results out of multiple residential treatment centers and aftercare programs. I had almost given up on the treatment world until I was connected with Ace, but he truly cared about my well-being and pushed for me to get the best resources available that were suited to my needs. Before I met Ace my anxiety disorder was so bad I could not even leave the house without having a panic attack, but I am currently writing this testimonial while on a trip to San Francisco with my girlfriend. I am forever grateful for what he helped me accomplish!
